Do you really know what a Credit Union is?

I'm sorry if this seems like a silly question, but some people still don't really know who and what we are. I won't bore you with a long, drawn-out story about the history of credit unions, but I'll give you the skinny: we do everything your bank can do, but we basically do it better and for less money.

For example: your bank, whoever they may be, is "governed" by a board of directors. These guys and gals get paid for making the decisions for the bank, and the decisions may or may not be in YOUR best interest. They're on that board to make money for themselves. A Credit Union has a board of directors, but they serve voluntarily (read: no money!) and make decisions based on the member's needs, and not of their own.

There's that word "member"...why "member and not "customer"? Because you're an owner of the credit union when you put your money in. That's why we call them "share accounts", because you own a share of the credit union with that savings account. You matter to us. Your business matters to us more than you know. We know that if it wasn't for you, the member, we wouldn't have our jobs, and we rely on you to depend on us for your needs.

Best of all, we have better dividend rates on your savings accounts (savings, CD's, IRA's, money markets, etc.) and MUCH better rates on loans. Plus, we don't charge you to keep an account with us. For instance, all of our checking accounts are FREE, and we have several from which to choose.

We have so much to offer, and there's never enough time or space in a blog to explain it all, so why don't you just contact us to find out more? Call us at (800) 378-3778 and ask to speak to someone in the branch nearest you. We have 2 offices in Kingsport, TN, 1 office in Johnson City, TN, 1 office in Rogersville, TN and 1 office in Norton, VA.

Seriously...log off and call us now! You'll be so happy you decided to switch to Appalachian Community Federal Credit Union.
